Alison Cayne, a New York native, founded Haven's Kitchen in 2012 while studying at New York University. Cayne's idea was to teach people how to cook in a way that wasn't purely academic or policy-focused, and to connect food with the larger food system. She was inspired to start Haven's Kitchen because she believed that home cooking is good for health, farmers, and the planet, and that there was a knowledge gap about cooking in New York City.
Haven's Kitchen put on a collaboration pop-up shop with Alchemy Works to bring the best of both worlds to the New York City market. Retail for the People offered pop-up execution support, pop-up management, operations, and visual merchandising.
