Modern Society was founded by Nazifa Movsoumova in 2013. And though her store is widely regarded as one of the freshest spots in fashion and design, she began her career in law and finance – which definitely isn't bad for business. This longterm pop-up set to run for over one year was at the Platform LA. And went on to spend multiple years at this location before moving to Aspen, Colorado.
Retail for the People provided recruiting services, team training, store opening execution, store management, and visual merchandising.
The store is recognized for its editorial yet accessible approach to fashion and carries some of the most sought-after independent labels including Sandy Liang, Rejina Pyo, and Susan Alexandra. In the summer of 2016, Modern Society launched its eponymous label, with a strong focus on quality, wearability, and modern simplicity. Then in 2017, Modern Society opened its very first, American Flagship retail store in Los Angeles at the world-renowned Platform.
We had a great time partnering with Modern Society on a very fast turnaround time (less than two weeks!) to recruit and hire, open the store, and train the team.
